Nabs Wood & Westfield Equestrian Centre, Silkstone Common, South Yorkshire
Come and join us at the Westfield Equestrian Centre which is located in the rolling foothills of the Pennines and Peak District close to junction 37 of the M1 and is served by Manchester, Leeds-Bradford and Doncaster Airports.
There is also a railway station in the village, conveniently located next to the village pub! At this site you will be preserving history by working on walls which form the boundary for Nabbs Wood which is a memorial to 26 children who were killed there in a mine flood on 4th July 1838. These children's tragic deaths lead to the 1842 Factories Act which was the first step in developing the working conditions we enjoy today.
Silkstone Common is close to many amenities including Meadowhall Shopping Centre (for your partners retail therapy!), Wentworth Castle, Cannon Hall, National Coal Mining Museum, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Headingley, Royal Armouries, several football stadium, Sheffield Arena, Sheffield Winter Gardens, to name a few. There are many good restaurants and pubs in the area and there's actually an excellent Indian Restaurant on site at Westfield Park called the Chilli Lodge (reservations recommended 01226 792300)
